DM53: The Province motion against the Decree

We following publish the press release of the 18 December and the motion filed on the 31 December 2009 by the Province of Florence for the changes of the new regulations and the acknowledgement of the restorer qualification. This motion follows that one filed by the Regione Toscana on the 10 November 2009.

RESTORER, AN ENDANGERED QUALIFICATION THE PROVINCE AGAINST THE NEW GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS

The President Barducci said: “We could lose a lot of qualified technician”. A new motion prepared by Pd and filed by the member Sara Biagiotti ask the Ministry the suspension of the new rules and the opening of a round table with the sector workers in order to change some of the parts of the new rules. The Government in fact is now acting a law that could cancel just in a moment a whole generation of restorers, forcing so the Province of Florence to file a motion made in order to ask the suspension of the new Ministerial regulations. This is in brief, the content of the motion filed by the province member Sara Biagiotti (Pd) which will be son discussed by the Counsel assembly of Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
The document has the support of the President Andrea Barducci who told: “These new rules can cancel the right of many qualified workers to be included in the list of the qualified technicians. Without the qualification, many good workers could be cancelled from this list of restorers. An essential activity for the caring of our great cultural heritage could be thrown away”.
“All the sector unions and workers claim against the incoherence of this law and they focus on the fact that many restorers who has been working for many years couldn’t now be admitted neither at the restorer qualification exams”. The new regulations in fact require some special certifications which are quite impossible to be obtained. “For this reason – affirms Sara Biagiotti – we ask to the President Andrea Barducci and to his delegates to press the government in order to obtain the suspension of the new rules and the opening of a round table with the sector workers in order to change some of the parts of the new rules”.
