Curriculum Vitae

He worked for many years in the field of restoration of wooden supports, experimenting new materials and technologies of intervention in the field of artworks restoration. He carried out many restoration works as for example the “Sacra Famiglia” by Domenico Beccafumi, placed in the Museo Horne of Florence, the painting “l’Annunciazione” by the Maestro dell’Accademia, placed in the Museo dell’Accademia of Florence and above all the large scale cross by Cimabue of the Museo dell’Opera di Santa Croce of Florence. In the beginning of the eighties he starter to study the problems connected with the Preventive Conservation of Artworks with particular reference on the damages caused by the macroclimate and by the lighting systems. After the opening of the restoration school of the Opificio he starter to teach Physic of Environment focusing the themes linked to the Preventive Conservation and to the Artworks transportation methods. He was entrusted to activate the checking the non toxic treatments and the monitoring tests of the gilt tiles of the Porta del Paradiso by Lorenzo Ghiberti of the Battistero di Firenze.
Professional Experience

He works as instructor in many training courses in the field of Artworks Preventive Conservation. He hold conferences, seminars and practical sessions at the: University of Bologna, University of Florence, University of Brescia, University of Pisa, University of Tokyo, where he described the various steps of the restoration works of the Beheading of St. John's the Baptist by Caravaggio;
He collaborated at the organisation of the following exhibitions:

He has been working in the field of microclimatic survey, non toxic treatments and prevention of the damages caused by the air pollution and by the artworks transportation.
He collaborated at the organisation of the following survey and artworks transportation projects:
“Monitoring of the phases of preparation, dismounting and transportation during the exhibition ” Arti e Mestieri” organised in London at the Accademia Italiana delle Arti.
“Monitoring of the phases of preparation, dismounting and transportation during the exhibition ” Rinascimento Fiorentino” organised in Beijing at the Città Imperiale.
“Monitoring of the phases of dismounting and transportation during the restoration of the” Beheading of St. John's the Baptist by Caravaggio” from Malta to Italy.
“Monitoring of the phases of preparation, dismounting and transportation during the exhibition” Rinascimento Italiano la Civiltà delle Corti” organised in Tokyo at the Western Art Museum.
