Rocco Furferi was born in Florence, Italy, in 1974. He received the Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florence, Italy, in March 2001. In January 2002 he started the Ph.D. course in “Machine Design and Manufacturing” at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Technologies” of the University of Florence. In March 2005 he received a Ph.D Degree in Machine design and Construction from the University of Florence. He is now lecturer and assistant Professor for the courses “Computational Graphics”, “Technical Computational Graphics”. He is Professor for the course “Environmental Image Processing”. His main interests (and publications) are: Machine Vision Design, Image Processing based systems applied to textile field; development of methodologies based on the Artificial Neural Networks; design of quality control systems for textile processes, Reverse Engineering and Rapid Prototyping. Dr. Furferi is a member of MDA (Machine Design Association).
Career
- February 2008 - now: Post PhD Researcher and official Professor of the Courses “Environmental Image Processing” and “Digital Image Processing” at the Engineering faculty of Florence (Italy).
- From January 2007: Assistant Professor of the Course Industrial Technical Drafting at the Engineering faculty of Florence.
- From September 2006: Coordinator of the Course of International Logistics financed by Savino Del Bene S.p.a.
- From April 2006: Contract Professor for the courses “Environmental Image Processing” and “Digital Image Processing” at the Engineering faculty of Florence (Italy).
- March 2006 – Genuary 2007 : Researcher for the Tuscany Region in the Project “Development of a Artificial Neural Network based colour predictive software for textile materials” POR Ob. 3 FSE a valere sulla misura D4.
- From September 2005: lecturer and assistant Professor for the courses “Computational Graphics” and “Technical Computational Graphics” at the Engineering faculty of Florence (Italy).
- March 2005- April 2006: Researcher for the University of Florence in the Project “Development of a non intrusive AV system for measuring camber and toe of terrestrial vehicles. (Financed by FASEP s.r.l., Florence, Italy).
- March 2005: PhD Degree in Machine design and Construction from the University of Florence. His Ph.D. course was focused on the development of AVI systems in textile field.
Genuary 2005 – march 2006: Researcher for University of Florence for the project “ Development of a no-contact system for the measurement of camper and toe angles in terrestrial vehicles” financed by FASEP s.r.l. of Ronta (Florence, Italy).
